NEW CANVAS USER INTERFACE
INTRODUCED SUMMER SEMESTER 2016

Instructure, the parent company of the Canvas learning management system, rolled out an updated user interface that faculty and students use while navigating in a Canvas course.
All the functionality and capabilities that were part of an existing course are retained. Basically the upgrade is a new skin on the same Canvas.
The primary revision moves menu items that were once arranged horizontally along the top of a Canvas page (such as Courses and Calendar). These options are now part of vertically arranged navigation panels on the left side of a page. In the new layout there's a first tier vertical menu. Depending on what you select, a second tier vertical menu may open up. Compare the BEFORE and AFTER illustrations below.
