• About the Kaltura Desktop Recorder for Screen Recording | Webcam Recording | Voice Recording

 

WHAT IS THE KALTURA CAPTURESPACE DESKTOP RECORDER?

A set of tools from the video platform company Kaltura is directly integrated into the University of Utah's MediaSpace repository.

The tool set is called the Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder and offers five options:

  1. Presentations & Lectures
         Record a presentation coming from multiple media sources.
  2. Screen Recording
         Record an entire screen or part of a screen.
  3. Webcam Recording
         Tell a story or personal profile through a short clip using a webcam.
  4. Screen & Webcam Recording
         In a single shoot, record from both the screen and a webcam.
  5. Voice Recording
         Record only your voice.

With these tools, you can create, upload, clip, manage, publish and deliver high quality video. These recordings can reside in your MY MEDIA repository in MediaSpace and be seamlessly accessed through MY MEDIA in the Canvas learning management system for tests, announcements, blogs, discussions, and feedback.

 

 

IN MEDIASPACE - ACCESS DESKTOP RECORDER OPTIONS

In the UofU MediaSpace site, login with your University ID (uNID) and its associated password.

From the menu along the top of the MediaSpace page, click ADD NEW to view the options.

The Kaltura Desktop Recorder recording tools can be accessed with the option WEBCAM & SCREEN CAPTURE:

NOTE: The Desktop Recorder options provided by Kaltura only become available after you have first downloaded and installed the application.  This is a one time procedure. See the following article:
